Pasticceria Filippi reduces and offsetsCO2 emissions by supporting international climate protection projects.
Pasticceria Filippi, the company from Zanè (Vicenza) started in 1972, reaches a new milestone in the field of sustainability in the year of its 50th anniversary (2022) by becoming aCarbon Neutral company. The path undertaken in 2021 to calculate the carbon dioxide emissions produced by the company’s individual activities has led to the achievement of ClimatePartner certification in 2022. Carbon Neutral is defined as all companies, processes and products whoseCO2 emissions are calculated, reduced and fully offset through the financing of internationally recognised climate protection projects .
“In 2022,” says Andrea Filippi, co-owner of the company with his brother Lorenzo and parents, “we have reached two important milestones: we celebrated our first 50 years in business and we became a Carbon Neutral company. This certification is a gift we wanted to give to ourselves, to the people who work in this company, and to all those who, by choosing our products, believe in our commitment as a Benefit Society”. Supported by the expertise of Progesto S.r.l. S.B. and ClimatePartner, Pasticceria Filippi was able to calculate the emissions produced by the company’s activities: from the supply and consumption of gas and electricity to the purchase of goods needed to carry out its activities, to the disposal of waste, and even the carbon dioxide produced by employees on their way from home to the Pasticceria. To compensate for this, the company has joined a climate protection programme dedicated to the Mataven forests in Colombia. The initiative is the largest REDD+ project in that country, protecting 1,150,200 hectares of tropical rainforest, preserving its biodiversity, and providing education, facilities and healthcare, food security and other social benefits to more than 16,000 people. The plan works closely with the local population to bring about lasting change towards a sustainable economy that preserves the natural heritage. The programme also contributes to the food self-sufficiency of six different ethnic groups and to the protection of indigenous territories through an improved monitoring, communication and transport system, in order to encourage self-government by the communities.
The history of Pasticceria Filippi began in 1972 in Zanè, in the province of Vicenza. The Filippi family philosophy embraces the idea of ‘time’: everything, made with respect, care and passion, takes its time. The secret of Filippi’s products lies in the research, selection and care of the finest ingredients, under the banner of genuineness and only with natural flavourings, to create products with a harmonious taste, in which each ingredient is enhanced and combines perfectly with the others. Pasticceria Filippi is a Certified B Corporation, i.e. a new type of company that goes beyond the goal of profit, oriented towards environmental sustainability, the well-being of employees and the entire community. pasticceriafilippi.it
