Marni: Boutique in Piazza San Marco, Venice

Marni is pleased to announce the opening of a boutique in the heart of Venice, in Piazza San Marco. The space, entirely dedicated to men’s and women’s accessories collections, finds inspiration in the city’s stylistic language, blending harmoniously into the pre-existing architectural context.

Conceived by MARNI’s in-house architecture team in close collaboration with the brand’s creative director Francesco Risso, the boutique is designed to welcome visitors to a luxurious and sophisticated environment where the distinctive codes of the Marni aesthetic naturally emerge.

Quotations of ‘Scarpiano’ design resonate in the choice of details. Carabottine bezels emphasise large display cases defined by bronze frames and modular display structures, dynamic in their narrative. The MARNI logo in satin gold – housed within a wooden frame – captures the eye, giving shape to a striking material composition. The geometry of the lunettes is transposed in the entrance door handle – positioned in the adjacent gallery – which opens to three sales areas distributed over an area of about 50 square metres.

The use of materials inspired by the city’s architectural vocabulary continues inside the boutique, revealing a Calacatta marble mosaic floor that dialogues harmoniously with Venetian stucco walls and sophisticated onyx-effect ivory finishes. In this well-balanced compositional encounter, shelves that hold bags stand out, framed by silver-coloured mirrored ceramic tiles that refract the light, giving further luminosity to the rooms.

An elegant spiral staircase dominates the space. Composed of two ribbons that turn around a central torus, and suspended treads that amplify the concept of lightness, the staircase is made entirely of gold finish, establishing a symbiosis with its surroundings. The ceiling, characterised by linear bronze elements housing lighting fixtures, intensifies the theme of reflection that drives the inspiration for the project.

The space accommodates a display table defined by a glass case with several shelves resting on a volume of silver tiles, displaying small leather goods, while a niche recessed in a wall with Venetian stucco finishes houses the eyewear collections. Further on, the footwear area overlooking the square looks towards St Mark’s Basilica, in the direction of the sunset.
