The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este comprises eight vehicle categories. There is a festive atmosphere on the day in the park of Villa Erba. The BMW Group presents an elegant and sporty one-off for the first time. The BMW Group’s presence at the event in many different facets. From 19 to 21 May 2023, BMW Group Classic will host the legendary Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in cooperation with the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este. This year’s event will include the following eight vehicle classes:

Class A: A CENTURY OF THE 24 HOURS OF LE MANS: HEROES OF THE MOST FAMOUS RACE IN THE WORLD

Class B: THE FAST AND THE FORMAL: PRE-WAR HIGH SPEED LUXURY

Class C: GRANDE VITESSE: PRE-WAR WEEKEND RACERS

Class D: INCREDIBLE INDIA: THE DAZZLING MOTORING INDULGENCES OF THE MIGHTY MAHARAJAS

Class E: PORSCHE AT 75: DELVING INTO THE STUTTGART LEGEND’S ICONIC AND ECCENTRIC BACK CATALOGUE

Class F:GRANTURISMO: EXPERIMENTING WITH THE POST-WAR EUROPEAN GT

Class G: THAT ‘MADE IN ITALY’ LOOK: STYLES WHICH CONQUERED NEW WORLDS

Class H: HERE COMES THE SUN: ‘TOPLESS’ DONE DIFFERENTLY!

Prizes will also be awarded in a special category for spectacular concept cars from various manufacturers. The Concorso d’Eleganza parade at Villa d’Este will take place as usual on Saturday. The Best of Show will be crowned by the Jury, and the vehicle in question will be awarded the BMW Group Trophy on Sunday evening. In addition to the first prize, the participants and vehicles competing in the Concorso will vie for victory in their respective categories, for the Coppa d’Oro awarded by public vote, and for a host of other prizes such as the President’s Trophy, which will be presented by Helmut Käs, Head of BMW Group Classic and President of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Speaking of awards, BMW Group Classic brand ambassador and renowned tenor Jonas Kaufmann has been entrusted with a special task: he will present the Il Canto del Motore Trophy for the best engine sound, chosen by the jury. BMW Group Classic brand ambassador and racing driver Bruno Spengler will also be present at the event.

On Sunday 21 May, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Public Day – The festival in the park of the nearby Villa Erba will once again offer the general public the opportunity to watch the parade of all the cars in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. But that is not all: this will be a day of attractions that go beyond the cars themselves, with a programme full of music and entertainment for the whole family. The vehicles entered in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este will be on display here before the parade and can be admired up close. The BMW Group will also be presenting spectacular new vehicles with cutting-edge technology on Sunday, from a very special BMW M car and a MINI Cooper SE Convertible (combined energy consumption: 17.2 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) to an electric scooter from BMW Motorrad. A new all-electric M Performance model of the BMW 7 Series will also be presented in an exclusive two-tone livery. In addition, as an outstanding addition to the programme, the BMW Group will present for the first time an elegant and unique motorsport homage for two.

BMW M GmbH will be bringing a very special guest to Lake Como: the new edition of the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL (combined fuel consumption: 11.0 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 249 g/km according to WLTP; details according to NEDC: -). This spectacular car will be on display both at Villa d’Este on Saturday and at Villa Erba on Sunday, alongside its illustrious ancestor, the 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL. Visitors to this year’s event will also be able to admire the Rolls-Royce Spectre (combined WLTP: energy consumption: 21.5* kWh/100 km; electric range: 520* kilometres; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km.* Preliminary data – vehicle still undergoing type approval), the brand’s first all-electric model, in the magnificent mosaic garden of Villa d’Este. The Spectre marks Rolls-Royce’s transition to the all-electric era and the company has confirmed that the entire product range will be exclusively electric by the end of 2030.

The Amici&Automobili – Wheels&Weisswürscht event, known to many for its Munich origins, will bring a taste of Bavaria to the Concorso on Saturday 20 May, again in the grounds of Villa Erba. Vehicles of all kinds will be celebrated here, and models of all makes brought by automobile clubs and communities from all over the world will receive a warm welcome. Before the start of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the now traditional Prelude Tour will take place. This year a stop at the Monza circuit is planned. The cars will arrive at the port of Cernobbio in the late afternoon of 18 May and will be on display to the public. This myriad of attractions and the varied nature of the event reinforce BMW Group Classic’s commitment – as organiser of the event – to evolving the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este sensitively and without obscuring its historic character. This is in line with the aim of making the event more accessible to the general public through the integration of new and varied themes and of celebrating the automobile as a cultural asset.

Villa d’Este, Lake Como and the extraordinary surroundings are the perfect setting in which the most extraordinary automobiles of their era shine like precious gems. The aura of a unique classic event, the value of the masterpieces on display and the perfection of this iconic hotel form a sublime symbiosis that, in May each year, unites tradition with contemporary times. It is precisely this that has ensured the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este its special appeal since 1929. The winner of the BMW Group Trophy – Best of Show will receive a special watch from A. Lange & Söhne: the exclusive CHRONOGRAPH 1815 in 18-carat white gold with a solid rose gold dial and the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este coat of arms hand-engraved on the hinged cuvette. Thanks to the partnership with the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, which began in 2012, the German watch manufacturer focuses on the historical links between motor sport and watchmaking. The partnership is also characterised by a shared commitment to tradition, craftsmanship and mechanical innovation. RM Sotheby’s is the official partner of this year’s BMW Group Classic auction.
