Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: the wait is over, the bike arrives at the dealership

– The V-Strom 800DE is built around an innovative platform, centred around a brand new parallel-twin engine;

– The Sport Enduro Tourer from Hamamatsu is versatile and suitable for a variety of needs. 21 and 17 inch spoked wheels and advanced electronic systems support the rider in riding on all terrain;

– The V-Strom 800DE is priced at €11,500 and can be purchased at official dealerships or on the Suzuki website via the Smart Buy system.

During this month of March, Suzuki’s novelties are rapidly arriving at the official dealer network. After the debut of the V-Strom 1050 MY23 and V-Strom 650 Explorer range in showrooms, it is now the turn of the adventurous V-Strom 800DE.
This motorbike plays a key role for Suzuki. On the one hand, the V-Strom 800DE stands at the centre of the Sport Enduro Tourer family, fitting in between the dynamic V-Strom 650 (XT and Explorer) and the newcomers V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050DE. On the other hand, it marks the market entry of a new platform, which is also shared with the GSX-8S, a street fighter expected on the road in the near future.

The first step towards change
The V-Strom 800DE takes the adventurous spirit that has always been part of the DNA of Hamamatsu’s all-terrainers to a new dimension. The V-Strom 800DE evolves the styling cues of its glorious ancestors, revisiting the typical front end and combining it with strong, characterful superstructures. LED headlamps create a strong link with Suzuki’s other more recent innovations and are topped by a three-position adjustable windscreen. Behind it is a clear, information-rich TFT LCD multifunctional colour display and a wide, variable-section handlebar.

This defines an ideal riding position for riders of all sizes, along with rubber-coated footpegs and a seat set 855 mm above the ground. Careful study of the ergonomics ensures total control in all situations, off-road as well as when you decide to adopt a dynamic ride through the bends. All this without any compromise in comfort. The seat is very comfortable both for the rider and for the eventual passenger, who can hold on to the handles integrated in the luggage rack supplied as standard.

The strong tubular steel frame is combined with fully adjustable Hitachi Astemo (Showa) long travel suspension. The preload of the monoshock can be adjusted quickly without any tools by turning a knob on the right side of the bike. The wheels are spoked and have dimensions that reflect the V-Strom 800DE’s off-road vocation. The front one is 21 inches and mounts a 90/90 tyre, while the rear one is 17 inches, with 150/70 rubber. The original equipment tyres are the Trailmax Mixtour, which Dunlop developed exclusively for Suzuki.

Powering the V-Strom 800DE is a new 776 cc parallel-twin engine with 270° crankshaft and the patented Suzuki Cross Balancer system, which is very effective in reducing vibration. Maximum power and torque are in the region of 84.3 hp and 78 Nm, while the average mileage is 22.7 km/litre according to WMTC standards. Thanks to the 20-litre fuel tank, the theoretical range exceeds 450 km, an extraordinary figure worthy of a true globetrotter ready to venture into any territory.

The engine is managed in an integrated manner with all the on-board electronics by the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System. Systems such as:

– The ‘Drive ModeSelector‘ system – Suzuki Drive Mode Selector with three driving modes, the ride-by-wire throttle
– The “Cambiarapido” system – Bi-directional Quick Shift System
– The Suzuki Easy Start System and “Partifacile” – Low RPM Assist.

Also included in the package is the “Aprisereno” – Suzuki Traction Control System. In order to give the rider the best possible handling of the bike on dirt roads, this advanced electronic traction control – which can also be deactivated if desired – includes a specific G (Gravel) mode, which is added to the three standard modes to allow a certain amount of rear wheel slip during acceleration. The V-Strom 800 DE also features an ABS system which gives the opportunity to select two operating modes and, if necessary, to override the rear wheel anti-lock function

Standard equipment on the V-Strom 800DE includes, among other things, LED indicators, hand guards, radiator grille and a plastic bulkhead to protect the engine. The vocation for travel and practicality in everyday use can be further enhanced with the many original accessories provided by Suzuki, perfect for sewing the bike on like a tailor-made suit and making it an expression of one’s personality.
